Principles

From the many methods used in molecular biology and biochemistry, the analysis of biomolecules using light is an essential part of the process. It is required as a quality control step, but is also used for the characterization of substances or cells. In this section you will find the basics of different photometric techniques such as absorbance, turbidity and fluorometric measurements. The instruments used for this purpose may differ, for example, in their mode of operation, their optical design but also in the possible sample throughput.
