Vessels

In the laboratory, a large number of diverse samples are subjected to a variety of different experiments. In addition to storage containers for solids and solutions of all types, laboratory vessels include those that serve several other purposes such as cultivation, processing and storage of sample material. The demands placed on the material of those vessels, their format and other properties are dictated by the nature, number and volume of the samples, as well as the type of application in which they are involved.

The expectations encompass the safety and security of the sample, followed by the successful performance of experiments. The resulting vessel properties include a secure seal and optimal instrument compatibility with respect to fit, as well as appropriate robustness. Temperature and chemical resistance are also important. As a result, a vast selection of different vessels is available for use.

The following articles will highlight materials, types and characteristics of vessels in more detail.
